Aims
The
official objectives remain as registered with the UK Charity Commission
at the time of registration:
“The
relief of sickness in particular through the provision and maintenance
of a hydro / sensory centre, items of equipment, learning aids, therapists,
staff and training not provided from statutory sources.”
The user
To evaluate the need for the facility - complete.
To identify the user groups and work with them and their carers to ensure
the centre fits their needs - complete.
To work with as many agencies in the area as possible to ensure the
maximum use of the facility and that all users are identified. These
to include education, health, agencies such as MENCAP, SCOPE and LIFETIME,
voluntary organisations and social services - on-going.
The
building
To determine the most effective way to design and build the facility
- complete.
To
identify best practice elements in design to incorporate into the build
- complete.
To deliver the best possible facility, at affordable cost but maximum
use to as many people as possible.
To begin to build the centre in autumn 2009.
Fund
raising
To raise the total fundsneeded by mid 2009.
To approach grant making trusts for match funding - summer 2009.
To ensure all activities carried out under the Harry Hydro banner are
appropriate and add to the reputation of the appeal - on-going.
To abide by Charity Commission rules - on-going.
To generate high visibility in the community - achieved.
Therapy
To work with experts in hydrotherapy in the design of the therapy programme
- complete.
To design
a best practice, multi-level training programme - complete.
To conduct excellent training for all pool facilitators (carers, teachers,
physiotherapists, volunteers).
To keep an element of fun in all sessions.
